What educators are saying

This is a great resource with wonderful ideas. My students really like the lessons and projec ts included.
I had been asked to assist a building para in doing art lessons with my students. This was extremely helpful as neither of us have art experience.

Description

After teaching art for nearly two decades, I have had countless opportunities to work with special needs students in my classroom. If you’re an art teacher, you likely have too or will. I’ve worked with students who have Autism, Down Syndrome, cerebral Palsy, ADHD, non-verbal students, the hard of hearing, CI, those requiring hand over hand help, and those with vision impairments. From kindergarten, through high school and even all adult classrooms, I have seen it all and have compiled my top 100 favorite tried and true lessons. I believe that today’s art teacher can never have enough ideas when it comes to helping our special students learn to love art making, and so I’m proud to share my many years of experience with you.

This presentation contains projects in a wide array of media including clay, paint, drawing, sewing, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, found objects, kinetic art, mobiles, musical instruments and so much more. The presentation walks you through each project with a list of needed materials, step by step directions, pictured examples, and when necessary, video links, pintables, recipes and more.

The presentation contains 100 slides. Each slide explains a different project, and the projects have been ordered by me to transition from low level learners to those who can handle more ambitious projects. While many of these projects might find there way into your regular classroom setting, these are in fact all projects that I have used specifically with my special needs students over the years. With little exception, each of the projects uses art supplies likely found in your art classroom already, but if your willing to add a few items to your next classroom purchase order you’ll be able to try them all.

I hope you’ll find this collection of 100 special needs ideas as beneficial as I have over the years, and I trust your students will be engaged, and eager to dive right into each new project.

-Thank you and enjoy!
