What educators are saying

I feel like this is just what I needed to help my first graders become writers, readers and good spellers! Thank you!
I used this with my 4th grade sped students that needed more support in spelling. This was a great resource to help me with how to teach them and has a good order.

Description

Don't just ask students to memorize words for a spelling test! Teach them how to spell. These are the word lists for the entire school year broken down by patterns.

Here are some worksheets/ activities that coordinate with the skills:

1st Grade Spelling Skills Part 1

Print and laminate these colorful mini posters to teach spelling rules:

Phonemic Anchor Charts

2nd Grade Spelling Throughout the Year

Students enjoy the mixture of real words, nonsense words, sight words, and sentence dictation. The sight words (red words) are largely selected from Dolch Word lists. The sequence is roughly based on "Recipe for Reading," but NOT exactly aligned. This is inspired by the Orton-Gillingham method this is a great set.

*Spelling tests include some words provided on the study sheet as well as some new words that match the weekly concept to truly assess understanding of the skill. Tests include isolated spelling practice as well as spelling in context through dictation.
