What educators are saying
Description
Teaching grammar has never been easier with super sentences. Created for first, second, and third grade classrooms, no prep grammar lessons and activities are easy to implement and differentiate.
Why SUPER SENTENCES? Because students learn the foundations of sentence writing and writing super sentences, leads to writing super paragraphs.
Each week of super sentences focuses on specific grammar skills, part of speech, or convention in a simple and engaging way that transforms student writing.
Teachers love super sentences because the lessons and activities:
- Are quick and effective
- Provide the foundations of writing

Frequently Asked Questions:
Are the lessons scripted?
No. These are NOT scripted lesson plans.
Do I have to teach the lessons in order?
No. I’ve laid them out in a way that makes the most sense for my second grade students, and they often build upon each other, however, if you need to teach the lessons in a different order, you absolutely can.
What grade levels can use this resource?
These lessons were designed based on second grade language standards and based on the needs of my own second grade class. However, many of these lessons could be used with 1st and 3rd grade students.
Are these lessons for whole group or small group?
I use these lessons whole group, but they could be used for either.
How long does each lesson take?
I typically spend 10-15 minutes a day on Super Sentence lessons.
How do I use the student pages?
Student pages can be used in composition books, binders, folders, or spiral notebooks. They can also be printed, used, and then sent home individually.
I use the student pages in our Super Sentence Notebooks (composition notebooks) that students keep in their desks and can then reference as needed throughout the day.
Are assessments included?
I don’t include specific assessment pages. But you could pick any of the pages included to use as an assessment.
I prefer to use Super Sentences for teaching and reference, and then look to see if students are using skills and concepts appropriately in their own writing.
