Description

Update! Now you have two different files to choose from. The updated original, and a half size profile box.

You are purchasing the files necessary to create a custom 3D printed box which allows you to make your own Soil Profile in the classroom. You are able to print as many boxes as you need for your class.

Simply place the printed screen onto the front of the printed Soil box, and pack each layer into the box tightly. If you are using very dry soil, you can try mixing the dry soil with a little water prior to packing. This will help the contents layer better.

This purchase includes:

+ 1 .stl file of a Soil Profile Box

+ 1 .stl file of a mini Soil Profile Box (rough;y half the size of the original)

+ 1 .stl file of a screen for the front of the Soil Profile Box

+ .pdf package including:

-Soil Horizon worksheet

-Demonstration and Student Lab ideas for use in the classroom

-Complete (Outdoors) lab to use with the 3D printed Soil Profile Box

Teaching Soil Horizons is more fun and more interactive when students have something they can visualize and take credit for. This product allows you to 3D print custom made boxes granting students the ability to create their own Soil Profiles.

This product contains everything you need to make your own Soil Profile in the classroom. However; you can also purchase Plexiglass seperately and make your own completely transparent front cover. Use 1/8" thick plexiglass and cut it 5"x2.25"

If your school, school system, or public library has access to a 3D printer all that is required of you is to hand this file off to the individual running the printer. They will be able to print you out this custom model for use in your classroom.

Your own personal print settings will decide how long the print takes. I printed the model photographed on 'low' resolution and the print took just over 5 hours.

Printing this before you plan on using it in class is recommended due to print times.
