What educators are saying

This was a great last minute addition to my Christmas Carol unit that ended right before winter break. It wrapped my unit up nicely.
This was great for the last week before break because the students didn't have to read the story but still had learning standards. Many of my students have never seen A Christmas Carol and thoroughly enjoyed the story.

Description

This pack of activities is an excellent way to add some rigor to your viewing of any version of Dickens's classic Christmas story A Christmas Carol and spread some kindness in your classroom. This is not a novel-to-film comparison guide, but it does work with any film version and can be used to supplement a novel study as well. These activities are tailored specifically for the movie! You may use one or all of the enclosed NO PREP activities to focus your viewing experience or to add to your existing novel unit.

Student Experience: From a thorough active viewing guide to an analysis of symbols and theme to an explanatory prompt, your students will be challenged as you teach this film as a text. From reading charts and graphs, to reviewing plot with the interactive human plot puzzle, to analyzing symbolism, to writing this movie guide is sure to add rigor to your movie-viewing experience. I love using movie guides as students watch films because they require students to apply a wide range of strategies to comprehend, interpret, evaluate, and appreciate texts beyond the surface.

Included:

  • Pre-viewing info text lesson for background, PDF and digital for Google
  • Active viewing graphic organizer with answers, PDF and digital for Google
  • Follow up quiz with answers
