What educators are saying

My deaf student loved it because it spoke her language (ASL) and helped her learn it better. Helped with vocab development!
My students have trouble organizing their vocabulary and this was a helpful resource to use. My deaf student used the pictures and sign cues, but I also used with hearing students, and they use the signs as a visual cue.

Description

This Category sort is now updated to include both Print and digital versions (Boom Cards™)

This ASL category sorting resource was created to assist students in developing basic vocabulary in both American Sign Language and English. Teach categorization of vocabulary by teaching students to sort and categorize new vocabulary words.

Category sort helps you to:

Build Vocabulary

Sort Vocabulary

Assess Vocabulary

Support both English and ASL vocabulary

This massive resource was designed for your deaf and hard of hearing students who enter your classroom without having a robust first language. Students who have experienced language deprivation or exhibit language delays due to inconsistent language input in either English or ASL often struggle with developing and using new vocabulary.

Digital Sort and Categorize added

This digital resource is in the form of Boom Cards

To access the digital resource, open the zip file and click on the Boom card file. Then scroll to the page and click the link that will take you to the Boom Learning.

These digital task cards would be great on a laptop, desktop, Chromebook, tablet, or any other mobile device that can access the internet. They can even be used on your interactive board or assigned through most most other digital platforms you are using for virtual or distance learning. These are a great addition to your classroom whether you are teaching in person or through a distance learning format.

When you set up an account with Boom Learning™ they are self-grading and allow you to track student progress. Plus, they’re no prep which means no printing, laminating, or storage.

These cards DO NOT require a student to have auditory access and are designed with Deaf students and/or students with Limited English/ASL proficiency in mind.
