Enrich your students' learning with this project based learning unit that focuses on addition and subtraction within 100. Students work with peers or on their own to pretend to send a flower gift to a special person. This project encourages teamwork. It provides deeper understanding of the relationship between addition and subtraction, as well as the use of place value.

This hands-on activity walks them through the steps of opening a donut shop. Students create their own donut shop, menu and advertisement. They take orders from "costumers," and create an inventory of the flavors they sold the most.
