Description

This content-rich activity is student-centered and interactive! This Explorers reading stations activity set has 11 stations with close readings, map activities, and primary sources. The activity can be done in a distance learning environment as the readings and questions are available in a Google apps option! Students analyze the fascinating expeditions of key explorers including: Pizarro, Cortes, Columbus, Magellan, Cabot, Drake, Cartier, Cabral, and Da Gama.

This exploration lesson plan comes with over 40 pages with tons of options for student-driven instruction!!! One of the stations has students pin the explorers' conquests on a giant iPhone, and another has students pair up and map routes from verbal instruction!

Readings come with pictures and maps. Questions and interactive mini-activities are on a separate worksheet for teacher choice. This activity also has a fold-able graphic organizer activity that is interactive and fun. Students summarize the reading with a #hashtag summary, identify the main idea with supporting facts, and draw pictures! Teacher instructions are included with 5 different activity ideas with the same Common Core readings.
