Hello Teachers I use this lesson in my pop art unit!!! This is the 5th lesson in the unit!

This is a google drive download!!!!!!

This lesson is going to highlight, pop artist Andy Warhol!! I use for Elementary and Middle school students. 

This Lesson is part of a UNIT the first 7 slides will review other artists before moving onto Andy Warhol (You may delete these before presenting) I do this to help students review the themes the pop artists used!!!!

1. Jasper Johns - Letters, numbers, and USA

2. Wayne Theibaud- desserts and cakes

3. Jim Dine- Hearts

4. Roy Lichtenstein- Comic

5. Andy Warhol- repetitive images in ranges of color (celebrities, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley Campbell's soup, Flowers)

6. Keith Haring- outline of human figures 

7. Jackson Pollock- Action painting expressive art 

Basic Understanding of the Unit:

Pop art = Popular imagery 

The pop artists chose popular imagery from their time (words, text, ads, celebrities, culture, brands etc. 

Basically the pop artists chose a theme that they really liked!!!!! They chose to express that common theme throughout their work!

This lesson comes with a 15 page printable worksheets for your students

Students will explore the technique of printmaking. Additionally, students will learn about Andy Warhol whose work is known mostly for his prints of pop art icons.

  • Students will learn basic printmaking techniques such as stamping, rubbing and creating a print. 
  • Students will learn about Andy Warhol and his life as an artist!
  • Students will create a print that demonstrates textures, colors, and shapes.
