    Description

    This fun unit will have your students learning all about animals in winter. The focus is on animals that hibernate, migrate, and adapt to survive changes in their environment. During this unit, your students will work on checking for understanding using 3 nonfiction books and 2 fiction books. There are many other strategies included as well such as character analysis, questioning, nonfiction text features and lots of writing and crafts. This was created for one week of whole group guided reading and writing. There are daily lesson plan ideas, anchor charts, literacy connections, sorting activities, crafts and writing connections. The featured text in this unit are Animals in Winter by Bancroft, Hibernation by Kosara, Animals in Winter by Mitchell (an original paper or colorful digital version). Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson and A Loud Winter's Nap by Katy Hudson. There are additional activities for Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson & Hibernation Station by Meadows. This unit can be used for distance learning and google classroom with the new TpT digital tool.

    There are also blank templates so you can incorporate any book with the literacy connections.
