What educators are saying

I cannot wait to use this. I teach 7th grade to IB students who have never been in the IB program before. I think this is going to be a great activity to have them get to know each other and most importantly introduce them to the learner's profile.

Description

This is a great icebreaker activity for the first week of school!

Students each receive a puzzle piece that they design and then present to the class. This is a great way for students to learn about each other and it also allows students the opportunity to work on their public speaking, not to mention it makes for a very awesome bulletin board display. Furthermore, there is also a writing component that goes with the puzzle so you can get a writing sample from each student as well in order to help guide your instruction. Each puzzle is made up of 36 pieces total.

Ideas for classroom use:
--I have done this activity with 4th graders all the way through 7th graders. You can easily scale it down for younger grades and make it more challenging for upper grades too!
--You could even do this activity with the staff in your building as a team-building exercise.

The activity includes:
--Student directions
--Teacher directions
--Rubric
--Individual puzzle piece outlines
--Completed puzzle template
--Writing template
--Kid-friendly IB: Learner Profile Attribute Descriptors
