How to get the maximum from Basic Addition CLASSROOM WALK?
Print the whole file and do not mix its content. The file is organized by letter according to the level of difficulty (each level is color coded). Each level has four different layouts to present the additions (vertical number display, horizontal number display, dots display, and combined dots and numbers display) that use 3 different border patterns (one for vertical number display, one for horizontal number display and one for dots and combined display).
Display on the wall one set of 10 slides that match the worksheet your students will work on that day (there are 75 different leveled worksheets). Use the letter, color and border pattern as a reference.
Students will use their worksheet to record their answers. The student worksheet is also letter, color and border pattern coded and it has footprints on since students will be walking around the classroom.
Provide the answer key once your students have finished all their work.
Students who complete all the questions in the file will have done 750 additions from 1-10.
Tips:
Students can use the numbers on the bottom of their worksheet as a number line or use the ones included on the slides that are being displayed.
Mark the floor of your classroom with arrows to guide the direction of the classroom walk.
Use it as a review tool for standardized tests like NWEA
