Looking for a creative project for your Bill of Rights unit? This Bill of Rights One-Pager Project has students demonstrate their comprehension of the first ten Amendments to the United States Constitution by describing and illustrating each in an attractive One-Pager art project. Students can draw by hand, paste in pictures, use quotes, word art, or newspaper headlines — the sky's the limit! This imaginative One-Pager lets students get creative and have fun — all while showing off how much they've learned about the Bill of Rights! This makes for a handy study tool, too!
This project is suitable for Civics, American Government, and American History students of any grade level, as it can be made as simple or as complex as necessary, depending on your kids' capabilities!
Aligned to the Florida State Standard for Middle School Civics:
- SS.7.CG.2.3: Identify and apply the rights contained in the Bill of Rights and other amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
- SS.7.CG.2.4: Explain how the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights safeguard individual rights.
This resource includes:
✯ The Bill of Rights One-Pager Rubric. This optional rubric describes the expectations for the students' One-Pager (that it should include a description of each of the Amendments, at least one image, and lots of creativity and color!) It includes a grading rubric and a place for teacher comments. Print this rubric on the back of the One-Pager template for really easy grading!
✯ Two Blank Templates for the Bill of Rights One-Pager Project. I know some teachers use "First Amendment, Second Amendment" and some use "Amendment I, Amendment II", and so forth, so I've included a template for both versions! Set your kids up with this blank template, some colored pencils, markers, or crayons, and watch their creativity flow!
✯ A bonus First Amendment One-Pager. Just need to cover the freedoms of the First Amendment? I've updated this resource to include a one-pager in the same style based on the First Amendment!
✯ A Sample One-Pager. I've included a sample One-Pager to demonstrate expectations and give your students that extra boost of courage and inspiration to get started on their own projects!
This is a really fun project that gives your students a creative outlet all while providing enrichment for your Bill of Rights unit. The finished products make for an attractive bulletin board display of student work, too!
