What educators are saying

The resource was exceptionally well-made and effortlessly kept my students engaged throughout the learning process.

Description

"My name is Bond. Covalent Bond."

I am a fan of any activity that can get students up and out of their seats to collaborate together on a task. This engaging activity definitely does that!

Students are given a card with a metal on one side and a non-metal on the other. Before they move around the classroom, they look up information about their two elements.

When the teacher gives the signal, students move around the room looking for elements that would allow them to make covalent and ionic bonds with other students.

Students then use the bonds they made to draw a bonding diagram and write the chemical formula for this bond.

They finish with a review of Lewis Dot Diagrams.

Concepts reinforced: covalent bonding, ionic bonding, metals, non-metals, bonding diagrams, Lewis Dot Diagrams.

Materials provided: cover page with teacher instructions, metal and non-metal printable cards, two-page student handout.

**Product originally posted under my previous store name, "Mrs. M's Science Gems."
