- PDF
Description
What teacher doesn't love to using engaging topics in the classroom? During those winter months students are all about the SNOW!
As a STEM coordinator, I am always looking for creative ways for teachers to integrate STEM engineering and design challenges into their classroom activities. I decided to work on creating STEM Engineering Challenge Packs for some fun topics.
This STEM Challenge Activities in this pack are focused on SNOWMEN!
Can you build a free-standing snowman with the materials provided in the fastest time?
Materials Needed: (per student)
- 3 large marshmallows
- 4 thin pretzel sticks (brown pipe cleaner works too)
- black Sharpie marker or black pipe cleaner cut into smaller pieces
- 1 piece of orange pipe cleaner
- timer
- scissors
Can you design a trap that can catch a snowman using found and craft materials?
Materials Needed: (per student or group)
- snowman
- assortment of found materials
- assortment of craft materials
These STEM engineering and design challenges will bring snowmen to life in your classroom! I have also included 2 versions of letters to send home, one to collect materials and one to do the second challenge at home!
Time to engineer those Snowmen!
