What educators are saying

I use this when we have game days in class. Students love to go up and guess the missing letter. I like that you can change the settings for which letter you want to disappear
I do this activity with my students on the smartboard to assess their vowel sounds. It's an activity that they enjoy and it's easy for me to get them to work.

How to Play

Students complete each word by figuring out the missing letter and touching the bee that is carrying that letter. If correct, the bee will fly to the blank space, fill in the letter and then cheer and fly into the bee hive. Students can compete to see who can build the biggest hive or work together to make a happy hive full of spelling bees!

Whole class cooperation - The class works together answering questions on the interactive whiteboard to figure out the CVC words and build a hive full of bees. Determine how long you will play or set a goal for the number of bees to collect before you start the game. Have one student at a time come up to the interactive whiteboard and answer a question by touching the bee that is carrying the missing letter.

Small group or single player – Played on tablets or computer workstations, PC or Mac

Start the game on a tablet or computer and allow the student(s) to play for a certain length of time. If you want to create a competition between students, record their scores on a piece of paper or blackboard and see who can collect the most bees for their hive. Tablets and computers can remain logged in to the student view so that students can easily pick their group or student picture and play a game.

Individual student at home while distance learning - Students can play their assigned games at home using the “Student Link” that is assigned to your pinkcatgames.com account. I have created the following tutorial that will help you get the game set up quickly: https://www.pinkcatgames.com/learn/distance-learning
