What educators are saying

This is such a great resource for my 1st graders. I used it to help with my SGOs. It was great for practice!
I look forward to be more explicit in teaching my 1st graders the parts of a book using your resource. I like that you provided a few different poster options. The opportunity for students to label the parts of a book will help reinforce what they have learned. Thank you.

Description

This is a great activity to go along with “The Parts of a Book” interactive poster that I created (https://goo.gl/IbFHfG), but it can also be used alone. I've included 2 posters labeling the parts of a book, and one poster that combines them both. The vocabulary words on the posters are:

Front Cover

Back Cover

Spine

Barcode

Call Number

Title

Author

Illustrator

Title Page

Copyright Date

*I added a second version of page 1 which includes Summary.

*I also added alternate versions of page 2 with "End Pages" and "Verso" but made these separate posters in case you don't teach these vocabulary words.

There are also black and white pages that can be used to assess whether students understood the concepts. Each of the 2 pages have 2 versions (one where students write the vocabulary word and one where they can just write the letter next to the vocabulary word.)

Finally, I created a quick concentration game that can be used at a center. Students can work together in pairs to play the matching game, or a student can use it as a review activity.

I hope you find this useful!
