Canterbury Tales Speed Dating Review Activity
What educators are saying
Description
Chaucer's Canterbury Tales Prologue has so many characters to remember that students can sometimes feel overwhelmed. This activity eliminates the stress and adds an element of fun instead. Students pair up for three-minute dates with another class member, each posing as a Canterbury Tales character. The students must ask each other questions that they would ask on a date, and then they guess which character they are speaking to. My cooperating teacher suggested this idea when I did my student teaching a few years ago, and it was such a hit that I decided to make a set of printables to complement the activity. This set of printables includes a set of directions and character profiles for each character, including direct quotes from Geoffrey Chaucer's work. Also included are question cards for students who cannot think of questions to ask. (Character profile cards can double as flashcards for exam prep.) Enjoy!
