Description
This product contains all of the materials needed to teach a 9 weeks Career Education course. I have used this as the curriculum for my middle school elective, and it has worked really well.
The course is designed to fit into 40-50 minute class periods, but it can be adjusted to fit your needs. Each class period begins with a 20 minute bell ringer that allows students to practice their typing skills. After the bell ringer is complete, students begin various activities focused on self reflection and career exploration.
The course follows a predictable schedule:
- Monday and Tuesday: Students watch an episode of "Dirty Jobs" and complete an episode guide.
- Wednesday and Thursday: Students complete a self reflection or career exploration activity. Activities include a personality test, self awareness activity, dream job activity, budget sheet, dream home activity, as well as many others.
- Friday: Students complete a typing test and graph their words per minute. Students complete missing or incomplete assignments and then play typing games on typing.com.
Please Note: Many of the research sheets in this course were designed around the website wv.headed2.com, which is the Headed2 website for my state. The website is designed for WV, but the materials and resources can be useful to students anywhere. There are also Headed2 websites for many states, such as California, Nevada, Virginia, Pennsylvania, etc., so you may be able to use the website designed for your state. The worksheets will work with any Headed2 website.
