What educators are saying

My students enjoyed this resource. The activity wasn’t too long and it was engaging and easily understanding to them.
Didn't use of the resources, but what I used was wonderful and it a great way yo implement critical thinking and primary source analysis

Description

In this American Revolution primary source activities set, students will closely analyze several primary sources that led to the American Revolutionary War. Each primary source is an excerpt from an early event that caused America's war for Independence.

Students will read selections from:

- the Stamp Act

- the Stamp Act Congress

- Responses from local businesses in regard to the Stamp Act

- the Declaratory Act

- the Coercive Acts (the Intolerable Acts)

- the Quartering Act

- the Townshend Acts

For each assignment, students will be asked a variety of questions that force them to closely examine these documents!

This resource includes a paper in-class version and a 1:1 Google compatible version to be used in conjunction with Google Classroom. Just follow the included instructions for how to access the Google version, then share the resource through Google or assign via Google Classroom. This will allow students to type directly into the document!

This lesson is a great compliment to the new Common Core primary source standards! In Social Studies, this can be used as brief introduction pieces each day, or as an entire lesson that teaches the early events in the fight for our country's independence.
