Celtic Mythology Unit

An introduction to Celtic Mythology this unit covers the Creation of the Celtic people, the conquests of CuChulainn and the adventures of Fionn McCaul. I teach this unit in a student-paced format over the course of 2 weeks. For the sake of brevity, I really cut to the nitty gritty of the beliefs and ideals, so this is in no way an exhaustive study of the centuries of Celtic beliefs, traditions, or stories. This barely scratches the surface, but this gets your students interacting with a culture outside their own, learning the ins and outs of other’s belief systems. If you’re looking for a place to start for a larger Celtic Mythology unit, or just want to spark their curiosity or introduce another type of unit this will work for you.
