What educators are saying

This is everything you need! Really thought out complete lesson and resources. I appreciate all the time put into this lesson.

Description

Hi Teachers, I use this unit for middle school and high school ceramics! This unit is part of my Ceramics Curriculum! This unit focuses on FORM.

This unit/lesson does not teach beginner level techniques, however this unit is VERY detailed oriented. This unit it is for students who already have knowledge on working with clay and understand fundamental hand building techniques.

Teach students additive and subtractive, open form and closed form hand building techniques by inspiring them to create a three dimensional work of art based on a microorganism or something that can be seen under a microscope. This all inclusive open ended project gets great results!

This is one of the top favorite works at our art shows! This is a great project to start off the year because this 3D work can be non representational/ abstract. Show students the powerpoint presentation, there are teacher steps to follow (detailed lesson plan steps and demonstrations) and students steps (thumbnail sketches, step by step handouts and planning sheets, directions and student examples). Everything you need is in the lesson, presentation and the handouts.
