I used this in my high school life skills classroom that wanted to learn more about Cinco de Mayo. This was the perfect level for my struggling readers.

This emergent reader little book will help young students practice early reading skills, while learning about Cinco de Mayo!!
Throughout the book, students learn about Cinco de Mayo; the text follows a predictable pattern to support emergent readers.
Page 1: Title Page: Cinco de Mayo
Page 2: Cinco de Mayo is a holiday. It is celebrated on May 5th.
Page 3: Some people in the United States celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
Page 4: Some people in Mexico celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
Page 5: Some people celebrate by playing the guitar.
Page 6: Some people celebrate by dancing.
Page 7: Some people celebrate by playing the maracas.
Page 8: Some people celebrate by breaking a pinata.
Page 9: Some people celebrate by wearing a sombrero.
Page 10: Some people celebrate by eating chips and salsa.
Page 11: Happy Cinco de Mayo!
This book includes the same text on both the top and bottom of each sheet of paper to make copying, sorting, stapling, and cutting easy to create a class set of little books!!
