From the opening scenes beautifully animated on papel picado, Coco is full of important cultural items and symbols that emphasize the Mexican heritage of its characters. This visual checklist -- with vocabulary in English and Spanish -- helps students notice 7 important cultural artifacts shown in the film.

After watching the film, students draw and write about the characters and setting.

Students draw and write about their favorite part of the film, in one of five possible formats:

An easy printable template gives your students full creative control in designing their calavera, or sugar skull. They can decorate it traditionally -- with bold colors, geometric designs and patterns, and symbols like flowers and hearts -- OR decorate it any way they'd like!
After decorating their skulls, students can cut along the gray outline, cut out the eyes, and attach a popsicle stick for a perfectly-sized, unique calavera mask!
