Code Orange Grade 5 Common Core Multi-Disciplinary Literature Unit

This newly expanded, multi-disciplinary Common Core Literature unit, based upon the realistic fiction book Code Orange, by Caroline B. Cooney, is exciting and interactive...perfect for middle school grades, or upper elementary GATE programs! Tried and tested personally within my 5th grade GATE program, this unit includes pre-reading Internet search activities which touch upon geography, science, and vocabulary, guidelines for a corresponding research Power Point/Prezi with Peer & Self-Evaluation Rubrics, a Debate planner, Science Lab & Data Tables, along with an 8-page STEM unit, which coordinates with the book's setting. Final Project Activity Choices are also included within this 24-page unit, and all activities are labeled with Grade 5 Common Core Standards. To round-out the unit, educators may also want to purchase the corresponding Code Orange Power Point presentation, which includes journal responses and discussion points!
