College Search / Research Project (AVID) - Common Core Aligned!

High school students are often confused about how choose to a college, and many of our students do not receive this guidance at home.

This activity is a guided project that requires students to choose and research a safety school, a match school, and a reach school by navigating college/university websites.

This five page document includes the following:

Pg 1--An overview of what a safety school, a match school, and a reach school is and an explanation of how to use the guided research worksheets.

Pgs 2-4--A worksheet for each of three schools the student chooses to research. They are required to find information such as average SAT/ACT score range for admitted students, demographic information, etc.

Pg 5--Three reflection questions requiring the student to summarize information, organize the data into paragraph format, and critique the websites used. [These questions incorporate Bloom's and DOK questioning techniques]
