POSTERS:
~A set of posters for the three types of communities. Great for reference when introducing students to the different communities and when they complete their other assignments.
TASK CARDS:
~36 printable task cards for identifying rural, suburban and urban communities. (both clip art and real photographs are used) Including recording sheet and answer key.
CENTER/STATION ACTIVITY
~Community sort with 60 cards and sorting mat. Using various pictures from the task card sets, to differentiate and have other options for practice with identification. This one can be used in small groups, having each student take turns adding to the sorting mat.
MAP ACTIVITY
~A semi-realistic map that shows each type of community (The urban area is exaggerated, so it is more recognizable).
~A worksheet that coordinates with the map example, so students can outline the areas they think are urban, suburban and rural.
CHARACTERISTICS ACTIVITY
~A worksheet to list the characteristics of the different communities.
MY COMMUNITY ACTIVITY
~A worksheet for the students to draw and tell about their own communities.
Six items total. This set would be appropriate for 2nd - 4th grade, and homeschoolers.
