Description

If you have played the Traveling Nitrogen Activity found at: http://www.windows2universe.org/teacher_resources/nitrogen_activity.pdf this game is exactly like that but modified for biotic and abiotic factors in an ecosystem.

Students will travel as a white-tailed deer to different lab stations to simulate competition for abiotic and biotic factors in an ecosystem.

Directions (from actual worksheet):
1. Pick a start location….DO NOT start at DISEASE! 2. Paste your stamp in the 1st “Where I went” stamp location (next to I began my journey…”). 3. Roll the die to find out where to go next. 4. Before you walk away, summarize and write what happens to you in the box marked 2nd (based on the station card information from the 1st station)
5. Go to that location and paste the stamp in the 2nd “Where I went” stamp location. 4. Repeat steps 3-5 until you are finished.

Students can use the experience to create a comic strip, illustrated children's book, or other product to summarize how organisms and populations in an ecosystem depend on and may compete for biotic and abiotic factors such as quantity of light, water, range of temperatures, or soil composition.

Please ask me for help with directions before posting negative responses. I will gladly give you specific directions and email it or post it. I will work hard to keep your business if you give me the opportunity.
