Constant Velocity Unit
Description
This Constant Velocity Unit is designed for 8 to 10 classes, starting with the Battery-Powered Vehicle (BPV) lab and progressing to motion description using multiple representations. Students will learn to use position-time graphs to identify slower/faster-moving objects, create velocity-time graphs and motion maps, and vice versa. The unit also teaches how to identify average velocity, write mathematical expressions to describe a position vs. time graph and use those expressions to solve calculation problems. At the end of the unit, a review document includes five multiple-choice questions and five free-response questions. The unit also includes daily homework assignments, as well as three quizzes. The slides include speaker notes with objectives and teaching instructions to facilitate learning.
