What educators are saying

This went perfectly with our Founder's Week. It was simple enough for my 1st graders to understand. They enjoyed reading it and coloring it after we were done.
I used this resource for a 5th grade life skills student. It was a great modified activity that went along with the 5th grade curriculum.

Description

Teaching about the Constitution? Need a reader to help teach your students the basics of Constitution Day which is on September 17th?

This reader is written in simple terms for young students, perfect for both kindergarten and first grade!

This reader gives the following information:

-the constitution is like a rule book

-tells the rules of the government and how it will work for the people

-the constitution belong to all Americans and it tells them their rights

-made a long time ago by leaders

-the USA got it on September 17, 1787

-it is a celebration

The last page provides a place for students to write one (or two) key details about either the Constitution or Constitution Day that they learned.

Both a color version and blackline are included. Read the color version aloud on a projected screen, then provide students with a blackline version to color. Students LOVE taking these readers home to re-read with their families!
