What educators are saying
Description
This continents and oceans resource includes four hands-on center activities perfect for students to practice identifying the seven continents and five major oceans.
Here’s what you’ll find inside:
Continents & Oceans Playdough Mats – Students will follow the directions on each mat to say and trace each continent’s name, form the shape of the continent with playdough, say and write the continent’s name, and circle the continent on the world map. Great for multi-sensory practice and easy to prep! Just print, laminate, and add dry erase markers and playdough! Color and black and white options are included.
Name the Continents & Oceans (20 Task Card Set) – Students will identify and write the names of the continents and oceans shown on the task cards. Continents are pictured both individually and on a world map. Oceans are shown on a world map. Recording sheet options with and without a word bank are also included.
Continents & Oceans Bump Game – This is a partner or small group game intended to be played referencing an atlas or map to check responses. Several game map options are included, including ink-friendly and labeled and unlabeled map versions. Additionally, two sets of game cards allow you to further differentiate the game or use it at different points in your unit. The blue set of game cards requires students to locate given continents and oceans by name and use their knowledge of the cardinal directions. The fuchsia set is more challenging and asks students to locate continents that are home to specific countries and well-known landforms and oceans based on their locations with reference to specific countries. In my own second grade classroom, I use the fuchsia set to challenge my early finishers and provide them with an atlas to help them solve the cards. A printable instructions page is included for center display.
Label the Continents & Oceans (Cut and Paste Activity) – This cut and paste activity is perfect for a quick formative check or summative assessment. Students cut out the labels at the bottom of the map and paste them in the appropriate locations.
