"Coping with Grief and Loss" Mini Lesson for Grades 5-6

This is a short lesson that can be easily squeezed into your busy schedules to teach students about how to cope with feelings of grief and loss.

This lesson includes a music video to help better engage students and allows for a differentiation so more students have the opportunity to understand the concepts of the lesson.

This lesson also includes a short video that introduces the concepts of the lesson, 3 discussion questions, and a bonus activity!

Our goal with this lesson is to give students the skills to be resilient and able to deal with the ups and downs of life. This lesson talks about how to use coping skills to process events such as death of a loved one, divorce, a pet passing away, moving away, and other events that cause feelings of grief.

We know how hard it can be to find time to add extra lessons into your day, and that's why we created this mini lesson. This lesson can be completed in a short amount of time, and all of the materials are created for you with tips and instructions for each of the sections. We also identified all of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) standards that the lesson meets as well.
