What educators are saying

This was one of my Crime Solvers elective class's favorite activities for the semester! They loved including what they learned about crime scenes and making it into a snow globe. They didn't stop there and all wanted to share the stories! :)
Absolutely loved this activity for the end of the semester. Students were able to create their own crime scene. This was much easier than other activities I have done. It worked well with a substitute as well.

Description

It can be hard to contain the excitement leading up to winter break and Christmas for those who celebrate - grab your forensics students' attention with my winter holiday-themed Crime Scene Snowglobe Project. Designed specifically to recognize the winter holiday season while allowing students to flex their creative muscles, the snowglobe project is an opportunity for students to show off their crime scene, evidence, and forensics knowledge.

As an added bonus, these snowglobes double as a bulletin board display - just have your students cut out their snowglobes at the end of the project!

How It Works:

  • Students use the planning documents to plan a crime scene that includes at least 4 pieces of evidence and at least 1 "red herring"

  • Students describe the crime that occurred, the conclusion to the crime, and how each of their pieces of evidence supports the conclusion of the crime

  • Students anticipate and explain possible misinterpretations of the evidence

  • Students use their crime scene plan to create a crime scene in their snowglobe

  • Students review peers' snowglobes by filling out peer review evidence logs

What You Get:

  • Crime Scene Planning Document (PDF)
  • Force copy link to digital Crime Scene Planning Doc (Google Sheets)
  • Snowglobe sheet
  • Peer Review Evidence Log
  • Force copy link to digital Peer Review Evidence Log (Google Slides)
