What educators are saying

This was a great sub plan! I was surprised at the variety of cases my students looked at. This was a great resource and one I would use in class or as a sub plan.

Description

Examining Criminal Cases can be a fun way to teach the skills of research and analysis in a Law & Justice or Government & Civics class!

This is a research activity in which students are directed to a website providing information on a number of current criminal cases. The cases are updated frequently, and students have much variety in the types of cases they can investigate.

The handouts direct students to thoroughly research 5 of the cases and to compile information in the graphic organizer. Wrap-up questions are also provided.

This activity is used as a follow-up on my investigation of the types of crimes in America and on student presentations of those crimes as reported by the FBI.

This activity leads us to a wrap-up discussion on crime in America.

This could be completed individually or as a cooperative activity.
