What educators are saying

I love this. The slides are beautiful, and I was able to quickly revise them to fit what I do. I didn't have to recreate anything, just revise a bit. It is a great resource.

    Description

Looking for a culminating assessment for the end of Night that's not an essay? How about a digital poster on which students show a theme statement, textual evidence, and visually-appealing design?

This product includes two no-prep mini-lessons about motifs and writing quality theme statements, and then includes a specific activity for Chapters 1-3 of Night to help students identify motifs that they can trace throughout the rest of the reading of the novel. At the end of reading the novel, they complete a digital poster assignment about a theme from the novel.

    • Motif Mini Lesson - 20-30-minute, no-prep lesson that teaches students what motifs are and asks them to identify them in a short animated film. Fill-in-the-blank notes included!
    • Motif Mix-Up - 45-minute Google Slides activity for students who have finished Chapters 1-3 of Night in which they categorize pre-selected quotations and eventually select a motif to trace for the rest of the novel.
    • Theme Mini Lesson - 30-minute, no-prep lesson that teaches students how to craft quality theme statements. Includes fill-in-the-blank notes, tons of examples, and a checklist for well-worded theme statements.
    • Digital Theme Poster - Multi-day culminating digital poster assignment for which students use Google Slides or Canva to create a poster that visually represents a theme in the novel. Optional follow-up writing assignment, editable rubrics, and example included.
