What educators are saying

Very helpful and engaging resource for my students who are hesitant to write or who need more scaffolding. Thank you!
LOVE this resource so much for my first graders. The get to practice their writing skills and develop their drawing skills. starting to see a lot less stick figure drawings and taking their time on other activities that require drawings.

Additional Practice with Mono-Syllabic and Multi-Syllabic words

This Daily Phonics-Based Writing Journal was designed to give your students more practice with the writing skills that there never seems to be enough time for...handwriting and drawing!

Handwriting Practice

After the first few weeks of school, we often stop teaching handwriting daily. Our students may forget to focus on forming each letter correctly and they begin to just write as fast as they can. With these daily writing journals, students will spend time focusing on handwriting practice every day, without adding additional handwriting activities to their writing lesson.

Directed Drawings

The directed drawings were created to help your students learn how to draw over 180 basic pictures, using simple lines and shapes. They will follow the step-by-step drawing example, then add details to make it their own. Your students will become more confident drawing on their own, using the drawing skills they’ve learned throughout the rest of their writing activities.

Phonics-Based

Each day focuses on a specific phonics skill to combine what they are learning in their phonics instruction with a writing activity. Students will isolate the phonics sound in the word that they are drawing and practice writing the letter, word, or phonics pattern. When students are able to phonetically spell words, their writing ability will improve as they use more words when writing.

Just print and go!

These daily writing journals can be used throughout the year to continually review handwriting, drawing, and sentence writing. You can make these daily writing journals into a spiral-bound journal, display them on your SMART Board to use your own notebooks, or just print them daily.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "My students LOVE this, and I do too! We do it everyday in a 15-ish minute transition block before lunch. The one day we did not have a chance to do it the kids were asking about it at the end of the day. My students have grown TREMENDOUSLY in just the 4 weeks we have been using it so far. They are excited about writing creative sentences and making sure they have everything they need. I would buy this product again in a heartbeat!" - Katherine
