Data, Data, Data: A Project for Finding the Linear Regression Model

Data is everywhere. It is published in newspapers, seen on the news, and reported online on websites. When looking at data, it is important for students to understand its meaning. This project will engage students in the process of data collection and analysis.

The goal of this project is for students to identify when a linear relationship exists between two variables. Once finding the linear equation, students will then interpret the real-life meaning of the slope and the y-intercept. They will also use their knowledge of the correlation coefficient r to determine whether the variables have a strong or weak correlation.
