Decodable Readers Bundle Printable Books to Support the Science of Reading

This is a bundle of all of my decodable books that are perfect for students who are developing their reading skills from CVC blending all the way to more complex spelling patterns.

These books are offered in black & white as well as in color. They are available in two levels so that you can differentiate your instruction. The books are easy to print and use right away. You can use these books for small group instruction, whole class, home-learning, or as home reading books. Comprehension questions are included. In addition, one-page passage-style versions of the books are provided. *This is an update to the original file* The original clip art versions of these books are still provided within the download.

Students who are learning how to read benefit from reading decodable texts. The purpose of decodable texts is to present students with texts they can decode because they are presented only with the letter-sound combinations that they have been explicitly taught. This allows students to focus on the words on the page instead of relying on picture clues or guessing in order to read the text.

By slowly scaffolding your students’ exposure to the new letter combinations and new high-frequency words, students will truly be able to decode the majority of each book.

These decodable books support the Science of Reading and a systematic approach to teaching phonics.
