What educators are saying

Everything you make is really thought out with students' best interest in mind. I love that I can let my students practice indepently too. I was trying to make my own with the stickers but this is just so much easier!
I absolutely LOVE these slides! They have really helped my kids with HFW words this year. They love all of the secret stories in the words (:

Description

Teach the READER, not the reading with Secret Stories® Decoding Sight Words "Interactive" Phonics Practice (w/audio)! The Secret Stories® embedded mnemonic sound images bring phonics sounds to life, making even the trickiest "so-called" sight words easily decodable! (Watch a video preview of this product here.)

Did you know that for experienced readers, virtually EVERY word is a sight word? That’s because the definition of a sight word is ANY word that is recognized by sight, meaning that it has been “orthographically mapped” in the brain. For beginning and struggling readers, it is this transfer of unfamiliar words into sight memory that is the ultimate goal, not rote memorization of grade level sight word lists. Students must be able to connect the letters they see in words to the sounds that they make. This requires knowing not only the individual letter sounds, but the phonics sounds that letters make when they get together.

Decoding Sight Words "Interactive" Phonics Practice uses embedded mnemonic sound images to make clear connections between the phonics patterns and their sounds, not just in high frequency words, but in ALL words! The interactive decoding practice helps students "strategize" words instead of memorize them, providing structured practice and reinforcement of phonics skills for both reading and spelling.
