What educators are saying

This anchor chart allows my students to have a visual reminder of this operation, which ultimately decreases the cognitive load for multi-step operations/problems. The quality is such that I can enlarge it and display it in my classroom and print it for student math notebooks.
I love hanging this poster in my room and making mini versions to put in their notes!!! Awesome resource! My district doesn't provide much and this supported our curriculum wonderfully! I loved reading the passages with my kiddos and it was super easy and low-prep. Very easy and super informative.

Description

Dividing Decimals Anchor Chart Poster

This anchor chart poster is a great tool to display in your classroom. Students will be provided with step by step guidance for dividing decimals along with an example and vocabulary. This is perfect for students interactive math notebooks and/or an excellent scaffold for students who struggle with math.

Students will be reminded that when dividing decimals we can not have a decimal in the divisor! If there is a decimal in the divisor we must move it to the right to create a whole number. We must then move the decimal in the dividend the same number of times! Students are also reminded to bring the decimal point straight up and divide as usual.

Interpret and compute quotients of fractions, and solve word problems involving division of fractions by fractions, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem. For example, create a story context for (2/3) ÷ (3/4) and use a visual fraction model to show the quotient; use the relationship between multiplication and division to explain that (2/3) ÷ (3/4) = 8/9 because 3/4 of 8/9 is 2/3. (In general, (𝘢/𝘣) ÷ (𝘤/𝘥) = 𝘢𝘥/𝘣𝘤.) How much chocolate will each person get if 3 people share 1/2 lb of chocolate equally? How many 3/4-cup servings are in 2/3 of a cup of yogurt? How wide is a rectangular strip of land with length 3/4 mi and area 1/2 square mi?
Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi-digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.
