I think this is a great primary source resource to use in the classroom, I am not sure I will have the time to do it this year, though.

Description

Students examine primary and secondary sources describing Richard and Lionheart making inferences about their leadership qualities.

PROCEDURE: Students select the most important qualities of a leader from a list provided and justify their choices. Students then examine several primary sources and make inferences about the leadership qualities of Saladin and Richard from the sources. Students then have the choice of writing from the following prompts:

- Was Saladin an ideal leader?
- Was Richard an ideal leader?
- Between Saladin & Richard, who demonstrated the best qualities of a leader?
- Compare/Contrast the leadership qualities of Saladin & Richard.

NOTE: Sentence Starters and Graphic Organizers provided for students. Rubric Provided for ease of assessment.
