Description

Embark on an intergalactic adventure with your students as they explore the depths of literature in this captivating space-themed digital escape room, "Space Escape." Designed specifically for English Language Arts (ELA) classrooms, this engaging educational resource combines the excitement of an escape room with the power of literary elements, devices, and figurative language.

In "Space Escape," students will find themselves in space tasked with solving a series of literary puzzles to save the universe from an impending literary catastrophe. With their critical thinking skills and knowledge of literary concepts, students will navigate through four celestial planets, each representing a unique literary element or device.

The Four Planets include:

Planet 1: Figurativo - the students will be given eight prompts and must determine the correct form of figurative language being used.

Planet 2: Polypus - the students will need to travel around the room to find a QR code which links them to a Google Doc reading about octopuses and answer questions.

(The students forgot the code to enter the spaceship so they must crack the code to get back in).

Planet 3: Ictos Asteroid - the students will travel around the room to find a QR code which links them to a Google Doc reading about the Secret Garden. The students will answer questions about the brief text.

Planet 4: Elige-Unum - the students will be provided with two different passages but they must pick the correct one that matches the literary element described.

This digital escape room resource is designed to be user-friendly for both teachers and students. It includes easy to understand instructions, ready-to-use puzzles and clues, and a detailed answer key. The resource is adaptable to various learning environments, such as classroom settings, virtual classrooms, or homeschooling.  The biggest teacher benefit: NO PREP and EASY GRADING!  I just have the students submit a screenshot of the end screen or show me that they reached the end screen and then I give them an appropriate amount of points for completing the assignment.

This is a great tool to use as a day to take time to review concepts. It can be used prior to a test to help prepare, it can be used as a refresher throughout the year, or it can be used to help prepare for those pesky state tests but in a more enjoyable way.
It can be done individually, with partners, at home or in the classroom, the choice is up to you! You have a lot of flexibility in when and how you decide to use it. I hope you give this resource a try and that it benefits both you and your classroom.
