What educators are saying

I have an ESL student for reading and needed activities to support him when he was unable to participate in general class activities. This resource allowed him to independently practice ESL skills and support his efforts in Language Arts class.
This was a life saver! Perfect for my student to work on fairly independently. She enjoyed it and it correlated really well with what the bilingual teacher was teaching her!

Description

ESL Newcomer Activities - Vocabulary Workbooks for Newcomers - Independent Learning Activities - PDF (printable) AND Google Slides (digital)

This ESL vocabulary workbook BUNDLE builds basic everyday vocabulary for beginning English language learners. Activities are designed so that newcomers are able to complete them independently and without being embarrassed working with "baby" pictures and text.

During independent work time and in subject content classes, beginning ELLs need meaningful activities that they are able to work on with minimal teacher support. This resource provides them with exposure to, and practice with, basic vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing acquision. Incorporate the activities into small group instruction with your beginning ELs for additional support in building their English language skills.

Simply print and go with the PDF version, OR assign the digital Google Slides via your online learning platform!

Specially tailored for the older learner, the units in this pack are crafted by an expert teacher with years of experience teaching middle and high school English Language Learners, ensuring the highest standards of English teaching.

Whether you’re a content teacher with one or two beginner level English Language Learners or an ESL specialist working with older students, this packet is for you! Thousands of teachers are currently enjoying Newcomer Pack 1 and have requested additional units. Here they are!

If you are a teacher of older kids, teens, or adults and are tired of material designed for younger children, this resource is for you.

As with my original Newcomer Pack, this pack is designed for students new to the English Language to be able to work relatively independently. If you’re one of those teachers who cheerfully receive new students in the middle of the school year who don’t speak a word of English and you are currently teaching Catcher in the Rye to your tenth graders, you might want to pick this up. Likewise, if you are an ESL specialist and find that much of the material available does not provide enough exposure to vocabulary and beginner concepts, you will also find this resource helpful. Use this to introduce new vocabulary, concepts, homework, fast finishers, etc.

Please note that Newcomer Pack 2 contains six brand new units and are not contingent upon Newcomer Pack One. So, if you don’t have Newcomer Pack 1, no worries.

Couple this with my ESL Grammar Practice, ESL Games or my ESL Newcomer Units and you’ll be ready to rock!
