Description

Engage your students from start to finish with this FUN bundle!!!

This resource covers ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies standards!!

  • This documentary is found on Apple TV+ and is about 50 minutes long.
  • It takes students through the COVID-19 lockdown and how the Earth was positively affected during the lockdown.
  • The questions are meant to be answered after the documentary, but students should preview the questions and use the large space to take notes during the film.
  • Older students should be comparing and contrasting their experience with the COVID lockdown with the experience of Earth/animals. Younger students who may not remember the COVID lockdown should pay attention to how Earth changed during 2 weeks of no human movement.
  • There is no answer key for the documentary as these questions are meant to be higher-order, critical thinking questions that allow students to think deeply about their connection and impact on the earth.
  • Earth Day Math can be used as a whole group review, small group, individual or enrichment.

Recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division.
Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form. Compare two multi-digit numbers based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
Use place value understanding to round multi-digit whole numbers to any place.
Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
