Earth Day STEM Activity ( A River Ran Wild by Lynne Cherry )

This resource can be used as read aloud on Earth Day to help students better understand how Native American tribes felt when the settlers took over their land. It can also can be used to teach the causes of the Revolutionary War for upper grades.

As the text is read, students will interact by creating their own polluted waterway, just as it happens in the story. The teacher also has an option to have students answer comprehension questions along the way.

Afterward, students can complete a STEM extension to filter the polluted water they created.
