Description

This is a reading activity about La Nochevieja and El Año Nuevo (New Year's) in Spanish-speaking countries that can be used anytime during December or January. It is also a good emergency substitute plan for Spanish class to keep handy. It includes three articles related to New Year's in Spain and Latin American countries. The articles are in English, so this can be used at any level and with a sub. A key is included.

Comprehension questions follow each article. After reading the articles and answering questions, students fill out a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the way another country celebrates New Year's with the way we celebrate in the United States. Also included is a crossword puzzle featuring some of the terms from the articles.
