With these activities, students can create an ofrenda for El Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead without the mess, expense, or time spent crafting! Students can demonstrate an understanding of what is usually included on an ofrenda and use their Spanish vocabulary, all with low prep and no mess! Now includes TWO digital options in Google Slides.

To complete the mini ofrenda template, students:
-write the person's name at the top in papel picado (they draw these by hand and add a letter on top)
-include a photo of the person
-write nouns and adjectives to describe the person in the marigolds
-write the person's birth/death dates and/or age in the candle
-write and illustrate things the person liked in the monarch butterfly
-write and illustrate the person's favorite foods and drinks in the pan de muerto
Students can make their ofrenda for a loved one, pet, or a celebrity or fictional character if they would rather not do it for someone they know
The instructions are editable (PowerPoint format) so you can have students include more or less and decide whether they complete it in Spanish or English based on their level.
The completed ofrendas make a great display. You can also choose to have students present their ofrendas.
