What educators are saying

This was a great tool to use to teach elapsed time. Many of my students are very low in math and this was a great way for them to "see" what we are doing!
These were so helpful when teaching elapsed time to the nearest minute! I am thankful to have this resource.

Description

Elapsed Time Lines - I designed this product to help my students access time standards in Common Core:

CCSS.Math.Content.3.MD.A.1 Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.

CCSS.Math.Content.4.MD.2 Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, I including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.

My third and fourth graders need a lot of support with this skill and the Common Core adds rigor with the number line diagram.

Included in this download are 4 different versions of Elapsed Time Lines that can be used in different ways in your classroom. Each of those versions is included in both color and black and white.
-Large Version: perfect for whole-class modeling or to differentiate for students who need enlarged text or enhanced visual support
-Small Version: great for students to keep in their folders to use as a tool throughout the year
-2 Blank Versions: laminate for students to use with dry erase markers or keep copies on hand for students to use when solving elapsed time problems
-Arrows: various arrows to use along with the elapsed time lines

There are explanation and example pages included that would be great to post in an independent center so that students see how to use the time lines!

Make sure to check out the preview to get a better idea of how these time lines will help you implement this Common Core standard in your math instruction!
