What educators are saying

This MI activity was perfect for the kinders I used it with! We made a bouquet out of it and it turned out great!
It is important for me to know my students. I give this to them at the beginning of the year or when a new student comes in.

Description

If you are interested in finding out your student's learning styles based on Gardner's 8 Multiple Intelligences then this survey is appropriate for your class. There are 40 questions aligned with each of the multiple intelligences (musical, spatial, logical/mathematical, inter-personal, linguistic, naturalist, intra-personal, and bodily/kinesthetic. Students choose two different colors of crayons, markers, or colored pencils to complete survey. One color will be designated for yes (happy face) responses and the other color will be designated for no (sad face) responses.

Results: Flowers that have been colored with more yes responses will help determine the student's area of learning style(s).

The theory of multiple intelligences was developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. It suggests that the traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited. Instead, Dr. Gardner proposes eight different intelligences to account for a broader range of human potential in children and adults. These intelligences are:

*Linguistic intelligence ("word smart")
*Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number/reasoning smart")
*Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")
*Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")
*Musical intelligence ("music smart")
*Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")
*Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")
*Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")
