Description

This download contains a pre-reading and post-reading assignment for Elie Wiesel's Night.
The first page of the assignment contains a graph with ten statements. The statements all deal directly with concepts or ideas that the students will encounter when reading the text. The students must agree or disagree with the statements. They students will then determine whether the novel agrees or disagrees with the statements throughout their reading assignments.
The second page of this download contains five pre-reading questions that ask the students to use their prior knowledge and experiences to answer the questions. These were a great way for my students to link their prior experiences to the text before they even read the text
After they have read the whole novel, they will complete the Post-Reading Writing Assignment.
Please note that the teaching duration for this assignment was set at five days. That was the length of time that my students needed to read the entire text from start to finish and complete the post-reading assignment. Filling out the initial anticipation guide only took my students about ten minutes.
